I have been using cardio workout videos for about a year now, and let me tell you - if you have the right setup and the right attitude, they perform every bit as well as an actual aerobics class. The first and most important thing is that you have the proper attitude towards exercise that will bring success. You need, from the starting to set rational goals and a constant schedule of exercise that will help you succeed in all of your goals, and that's no easy task. That can't come from the cardio videos - it has to come from you. The most important thing is that you exercise frequently. Doing each cardiovascular video twice every third Sunday won't cut it. Even if you don't ever make it all the way through your cardio videos at first, you've to be using them each day or you will not get the maximum results from them - you will barely get any results at all, truth be told. Set rational goals and stick with them. Imagine it as if you do have to report to a fitness trainer. Remember its no good telling yourself that you will do a two hour workout with your cardio videos every day, and then failing right away. Set modest goals, ones you know that you can succeed at, to build self-confidence.
Equally important is to have a good space to do your aerobics workout. If you live in a cramped, one room apartment with clothing all over the floor, forget it. You can use some cardio videos with less space than you may think, but if you don't at least make some room to move around in, you will never reach any of your exercise goals, and that is a crying shame. The beginning of your cardio workout is really setting a time, clearing out a space, and psyching your-self up. Don't expect immediate success from using your aerobic videos. It will be hard work. But if you persevere, with-in a month you will notice major changes. Who knows this might be your call to a career in personal training.
